Joann Pavlic Elected PFDA President

HARRISBURG, Pa.- JoAnn E. Pavlic, supervisor of the Leonard M. Pavlic Funeral Homes, Inc. in Charleroi, Pa., has been elected as president of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, according to a news release. She was installed as president of the statewide organization at the board of governors dinner on June 14 at the Hotel Hershey in conjunction with the 131st annual PFDA Convention.

The PFDA was established in 1881 and represents approximately 1,100 funeral homes with over 3,500 licensed funeral directors statewide. It is one of the largest state associations representing funeral directors in the nation.

Pavlic is a second generation funeral director. She has been a licensed funeral director for 27 years. Her late father, Leonard Pavlic, founded the funeral homes in Charleroi and Bentleyville. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Waynesburg University and a degree in Mortuary Science from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.

Pavlic was the first woman to be elected to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association board of trustees where she has served numerous terms. She also served two terms as the first woman president of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association. She has been a member of the PFDA Legislative Committee for more than 10 years, and is a former District 3 governor on the PFDA Board of Governors.
