Chris Raymond, former editor of The Director magazine, the official publication of the National Funeral Directors
Association, was hired by About.com to serve as its Death & Dying guide at www.dying.about.com, according to news release.
In this role, Raymond
will write articles, update existing content, edit a weekly newsletter, blog about timely or pertinent topics, and moderate the
Death & Dying Forum, among other duties.
The primary audience of About.com’s Death & Dying site consists of people who are facing death, as well as their friends,
family members and primary caregivers. Additionally, visitors include those who recently lost loved ones and are seeking
information about death, funeral planning or grief. Before publication, every article is reviewed by About.com’s Medical
Review Board, a team of board-certified physicians and certified health professionals from leading institutions across the
country.
About.com publishes more than 900 topic sites on a vast array of subjects, each led by a guide (author/editor). Each month,
About.com receives roughly 650 million page views from some 100 million unique users. Guides are considered
independent subject-matter experts in the topics they cover, and each must pass a multi-step vetting process before he or she
is hired. Less than 1 percent of those who apply to write for the network are accepted.
