SALEM, Ore. – StoneMor Partners has announced that Vic Wiens and Garry Zwaschka, two veteran funeral directors with nearly 90 years of combined experience, have joined the StoneMor team, according to a news release.

Wiens and Zwaschka will serve as funeral directors at Restlawn Funeral Home in Salem, Ore.

“I’m very happy to join StoneMor and Restlawn Funeral Home,” said Zwaschka, who previously worked at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen for nearly 35 years. “I’ve worked withmany of Restlawn’s staff members in the industry for many years, and it’s a great team. I am impressed by Restlawn’s ability to serve families with compassion, respect and affordability.” Zwaschka, who was born and raised in Salem, has worked in the funeral industry since 1976.

Funeral director Vic Wiens worked in the funeral industry for nearly 55 years. He retired from Howell, Edwards, Doerksen last July, but decided to join Restlawn in a part-time role. Wiens will continue to help serving the families he’s served for over 50 years. “I’m excited to join to Restlawn and their group of highly experienced funeral directors,” Wiens said. “I worked side-by-side with Garry Zwaschka for more than 30 years, and I’ve worked with many of the other staff members here.”

Wiens, who has lived and worked in the Salem area since 1958, has always been extremely active in the community. He was formerly a member of the Rotary Club and the Capital Kiwanis Club of Salem, and he has served on the board of directors at Salem First Baptist Church, Salem First Church of the Nazarene and at the Willamette Valley Christian School in Brooks. Today, he remains active in the Salem First Baptist Church, where he and his wife sing in the choir.

“We are so pleased to add Garry and Vic to our Restlawn Funeral Home team,” said Kevin Mueller, regional manager for the western region funeral division with StoneMor Partners. “They both bring many decades of funeral expertise, and I know they will prove to be invaluable to Restlawn and the families they serve.”
