DES MOINES, Iowa – Homesteaders Life Co. is once again partnering with Amanda the Panda, a local grief support organization, to collect gifts for grieving families, according to a news release.
Dan Lodermeier, Homesteaders vice president-field sales and member of the Amanda the Panda board of directors, said the company enjoys collecting donations for the organization’s Holiday Cheer Boxes. “These gifts help bring cheer to families facing their first holiday after the loss of a loved one,” Lodermeier said.
Homesteaders employees donated a variety of unwrapped gifts for children, teens and adults. The collected items are sorted by age and gender, wrapped and placed in Holiday Cheer Boxes. Each box contains 25 individually wrapped items, one for each of the 25 days leading up to Christmas. According to Amanda the Panda, these presents give families something to look forward to each day and are a visible reminder that someone is thinking about them. “After the death of a family member, we want to help brighten their holidays and let them know someone cares," Lodermeier said.
