Homesteaders Extends Funeral Service Foundation Donor Match Program

Steve Lang, chief operating officer of Homesteaders Life Co., recently announced in a news release that the firm is extending its Funeral Service Foundation matching donation campaign.

“When we started our campaign in April we were excited and proud to once again partner with this fine organization in support of funeral service professionals, their families, and other organizations that promote research, public awareness and education,” Lang says. “Our campaign was scheduled to end in August, but I am happy to announce we are extending our donor match offer, beyond Homesteaders customers, to any gift made to the foundation (up to $500/gift), through the end of 2012, or until the $25,000 match amount is reached.”

“We want to thank Homesteaders for their generous offer,” says Funeral Service Foundation Executive Director, Kathy Wisnefski. “Funds raised through their efforts will allow us to continue to award scholarships to students pursuing careers in the funeral industry, provide grants to non-profits that help grieving children heal and fund research such as the formaldehyde free embalming study currently in progress.”

The Funeral Service Foundation is a national grant-making public foundation which exists to benefit funeral service professionals, their families, as well as, organizations that promote public awareness and financial support of programs for grieving families. Lang says Homesteaders has raised nearly $3,500 through the end of October. “We want to thank the many generous contributors and we look forward to future reports from our friends at the FSF with the final dollar amount raised in connection with our 2012 donor match effort.”

Here’s how the matching donor program works:

• Homesteaders will match individual donations up to $500 until the fund reaches a total match amount of $25,000 or through the end of the year.

• Donations must be made by December 31, 2012.

• Tax deductible donation checks should be made payable to Funeral Service Foundation. Mail to Homesteaders Life Company, c/o Julie Fouche, P.O. Box 1756, Des Moines, IA 50306.

Focused solely on funeral insurance funding and support, Homesteaders Life Co. is the number one choice of independent funeral home owners among the nationally-known providers. The company is associated with nearly 4,000 funeral homes and 8,000 licensed agents across the United States.
