Upcoming Curriculum and Training for Companioning Grieving Children and Teens

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Companion Press has announced the upcoming publication of "The Companioning the Grieving Child Curriculum Book: Activities to Help Children & Teens Heal" by Patricia Morrissey with a forward by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D.

Based on Wolfelt’s six needs of mourning and written to pair with "Companioning the Grieving Child," the comprehensive guide provides hundreds of hands-on activities tailored for grieving children in three age groups: preschool, elementary and teens. Through the use of readings, games, discussion questions and arts and crafts, caregivers will help grieving young people acknowledge the reality of the death, embrace the pain of the loss, remember the person who died, develop a new self-identity, search for meaning and accept support.

In related news, The Center for Loss and Life Transition will present "Helping Children and Adolescents Cope with Grief" July 8-11. The seminar, taught by Wolfelt is for caregivers to bereaved children and teens. The seminar takes a comprehensive look at a variety of subtopics related to child and adolescent mourning.
