Independence Trust announced in a news release that Richard T. Sells was elected to the board of directors of Independence Trust Company.

Sells, a 2013 ICCFA Hall of Fame inductee, has had an illustrious career in the cemetery and funeral industry including twenty-seven years with Service Corporation International encompassing roles as chief operating officer for the cemetery division, senior vice president of worldwide sales and president of the combined cemetery and funeral operations for the western states. With the leading industry trade group, the International Cemetery Crematory & Funeral Association, he served as president in 1999 - 2000, as a member of the executive committee and on the board for multiple three year terms. He has served as vice president and board member with the Southern Cemetery and Crematory Funeral Association and is active as a speaker at state and national trade associations.
A CPA he currently consults with The Johnson Consulting Group. Rich received his BSBA in accounting from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and served as captain in the US Army Armor Corps.
