BATON ROUGE, La. –The Louisiana Funeral Directors Association has named Roy Geesey the 2013 C. A. Charlet Funeral Director of the Year, according to a news release. He was recognized during the installation banquet held at the LFDA Annual Convention June 11 at the L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, La.
Geesey is a third-generation funeral director and previous owner of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley and Iota, La. He is a past president and long-standing member of the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association. He is currently a financial adviser with Cullen Investment Group Limited of Lafayette and Crowley.
Geesey was recognized because of his integrity, dignity, compassion and respect that he has for the families he serves and the dedication to the LFDA and funeral industry.
The C. A. Charlet Funeral Director of the Year Award was established in 2002 and named after C. A. Charlet, the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association’s first executive director who remained with that title for 17 years. The award is given to a funeral director regarded by others as a role model who goes above and beyond the call of their everyday work to make a difference. The recipient is an exceptional and dedicated volunteer that has made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the funeral profession.
