DURHAM, S.C. – Richard A. “Dick” Perschel, Sr., chairman of the board of Mastercraft Casket Co. of Graham, N.C. died Aug. 12, 2013.
Dick, age 92, was a World War II veteran, a 1945 graduate of American Academy of Mortuary Science; and a New York State licensed funeral director, having worked for the Frasier Funeral Home in Syracuse, N.Y. Dick later spent 25 years of his career with the Marsellus Casket Co., Inc. serving in numerous managerial positions. He personally assisted over 14,000 families in their casket selection.
In 1979, he was a founding vice president of Mastercraft Casket Co., and was elected chairman of the board in 1985. He was a prominent figure in funeral service throughout the United States and Canada.
In 2009, Dick was predeceased by his daughter, Jo Ann Perschel. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty, and sons Richard Jr. and Mark.
Funeral services were will be conducted by Lowe Funeral Home of Burlington, N.C., Aug. 15, 2013 at Mount Sylvan United Methodist Church on Highway 501 North in Durham, N.C. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
