Raymond Smalley, Jr. Becomes Funeral Director for Flanner and Buchanan

INDIANAPOLIS – Raymond J. Smalley, Jr. has been appointed funeral director of the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center in Zionsville, In.

Smalley joined Flanner and Buchanan in 2012 where he worked as a guest relations staff member at the Carmel and Broad Ripple locations. He recently completed a three-year program to become a licensed funeral director and has been an interim funeral director at the Zionsville location.

Smalley was honorably discharged from the United State Air Force after an injury during Operation Iraqi Freedom 2004.

Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Smalley moved to Carmel in 2009. In his spare time, he enjoys growing hot peppers in his garden and playing golf and video games with his son.

Founded in 1881, Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers is owned by Bruce and Brian Buchanan. The company owns 16 event facilities throughout Indianapolis – seven of which are combined with cemeteries. Many of the centers offer catering services and host weddings, reunions, business retreats and special events. In addition, the company owns a crematory, the Cremation Center of Indiana in Indianapolis, as well as Fewell Monument Co. in Scottsburg.
