BROOKFIELD, Ill. – The Trocars Motorcycle Organization will hold its 2nd annual Candlelight Bowl Feb. 22, 2014, at the Rolling Lanes Bowling Alley in Countryside, Ill., according to a news release. This is the Trocars’ biggest fundraising event of the year, and early interest from participants and donors indicates the organization will surpass the 2013 effort.
“Last year, we raised nearly $3,000 for our charitable interests,” said Chris Wiest, Trocars co-founder and president. “This year we have more members, we’re better organized and our cause is very worthy.”
The Trocars announced in 2013 that the primary beneficiary for their philanthropic work will be the Chicagoland Young Widowed Connection, a community that provides peer-based support, connecting young widowed people by offering resources such as seminars and workshops on the practical issues of widowhood, regular social activities and various outreach efforts.
Trocars vice president Mike Grabowski says his organization will continue to support other charities in addition to the Chicagoland Young Widowed Connection. “Because of our connection to funeral service, we will continue to provide support to the Funeral Service Foundation and organizations that support families and children in need. We feel the Chicagoland Young Widowed Connection is an organization that deals with all of our interests and is therefore deserving of the benefit of most of our efforts.”
The Trocars will match up to $25 of any donation received, and the event itself will feature prize drawings all evening. Dinner will also be served prior to the start of bowling.
