Edward Sagel Working to Acquire Two Jewish Funeral Homes

ROCKVILLE, MD. - Edward Sagel, the founder of Edward Sagel Funeral Direction, Inc. and the manager for many years of Danzansky-Goldberg Memorial Chapels, Inc., announced that he has been awarded the opportunity to acquire these two prominent Jewish funeral homes from Service Corporation International (SCI).

“I am most appreciative that Service Corporation International of Houston, Texas, awarded the opportunity to me. I know there were other bidders for these two funeral homes and feel very fortunate to make this opportunity a reality,” Sagel said.

SCI was under a requirement from the Federal Trade Commission to sell the Edward Sagel Funeral Direction, Inc. business, which Sagel founded in 1994 and later sold to SCI. They elected to sell the Danzansky- Goldberg business along with the Sagel business due to the strong synergies with both businesses.

Danzansky-Goldberg has served Washington Metropolitan area families for more than 93 years and Edward Sagel Funeral Direction for more than 20 years. “I wouldn’t be able to do this without my family,” Sagel added. “My wife Debbie and our two kids, Sam and Grace, are the reason we have been so successful. We can’t wait to move forward with this opportunity SCI has given us.”
