The New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Edward Munger, Jr., as NYSFDA's Communications and Social Media Specialist in the Communications Department as part of the Division of Public Affairs, according to a news release.
A resident of Schenectady, Munger, 44, worked as a newspaper reporter covering portions of the Capital Region for the past 15 years, holding positions at The Daily Gazette of Schenectady and The Leader-Herald of Gloversville. During his news career, Munger earned several prestigious awards from the NYS Associated Press Association.
A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Munger earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science as well as an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.
Munger will be contributing to the association's blog, www.sympathynotes.org and to the NYSFDA Web site, www.nysfda.org.
Munger will also maintain one of the association's Twitter accounts, @sympathynotes, and perform other tasks for the benefit of members of NYSFDA.
Munger lives in Schenectady's Woodlawn neighborhood with his wife Jennifer and their two cats Willie and Katie.
Founded in 1889, the New York State Funeral Directors Association, Inc., represents over 900 member firms and 3300 licensed funeral directors in New York State, and is the oldest state association of funeral directors in the United States. The Association is headquartered in Albany.
