BROADVIEW, Ill. – Wilbert Funeral Services, Inc. and Suhor Industries have announced an agreement in principle to merge their companies, according to a news release. Wilbert Funeral Services, Inc. would be the surviving corporate entity. The boards of directors for both companies have approved the letter of intent and the transaction will be presented to shareholders at an upcoming meeting.
Wilbert Funeral Services is a leading provider of burial vaults and cremation-related products. Suhor Industries is the largest Wilbert licensee, with controlling interest in WFSI. In addition to Wilbert burial vaults, Suhor Industries' funeral industry products include monuments, lawn crypts, columbarium niches, mausoleums and caskets. Suhor Industries also produces precast concrete products for wastewater, construction and agricultural markets.
“This merger will result in a very diverse and strong organization positioned for growth within the funeral and precast industries,” said Joseph U. Suhor, III, chairman/CEO, Suhor Industries. “We are excited to move forward with this merger and create enhanced value for our customers.”
“WFSI also believes this strategic evolution will be advantageous to the entire Wilbert licensee network,” said Dennis Welzenbach, president, Wilbert Funeral Services. “The combined capabilities and strength of the entity will ensure stability of the core products while improving opportunities for other licensees to diversify.”
