Fewell Monument Opens its New Production Facility

SCOTTSBURG, IND.Fewell Monument, a division of Indianapolis-based Buchanan Group, held the Grand Opening and Open House of its newly renovated building at 1446 N. Gardner Street in Scottsburg, Indiana, on June 10 through 12.

Over the three days customers from 14 states attended the event which included plant tours, educational classes, music and giveaways. Demonstrations of the all new sandblasting and laser technology also were held. With new equipment in the renovated facility, Fewell now has the latest technology that will result in a much more efficient manufacturing process–producing multiple granite memorials at once – as well as being much more precise. All attendees offered high praise on the new facility and the successful event.

The plant, formerly a Coca-Cola distribution center, and has been completely revamped. It is 50,000 square feet and sits on 22 acres with unlimited expansion opportunities.

Buchanan Group bought Fewell Monument in October 2011 and has integrated the company into its consortium of funeral centers, cemeteries and casket distributors across the country.

Fewell Monument has customers in two-thirds of the country, from Florida to Pennsylvania to Colorado. Its customer base include granite dealers who work closely with local funeral homes to design and deliver personal memorials. It currently has 29 employees.

Fewell Monument is part of the Buchanan family of companies which includes Buchanan Group Management Services, Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers, Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services, Washington Park Cemetery Association, and Private Label caskets. The companies, established in 1881, are headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.
