John McQueen is co-owner and chief operations officer for Anderson-McQueen Funeral & Cremation Centers in St. Petersburg, Fla. He is a native of St. Petersburg and a second-generation funeral director/embalmer. Like so many multi-generational firms, John grew up in funeral service, and upon the untimely death of his father, he assumed the leadership role in his company at the young age of 23. Since then, John and his siblings have grown their business from a single location in 1987 to the largest family-owned funeral establishment in the Tampa Bay area. He has served in a variety of leadership roles in various professional associations. He served as president of the Florida Funeral Directors Association; Florida representative with the NFDA Policy Board; board member of the Funeral and Cemetery Alliance of Florida; and numerous other professional and civic organizations.
